The Rugged Wearhouse style of merchandising actually dates back to the 1920s, when Lebanese immigrant Z.G. Gabriel peddled merchandise in the tiny coal towns scattered throughout Fayette County, Pennsylvania. His sons, James and Arthur Gabriel, became the founders of what has grown into a chain of more than 100 stores operating in 11 states (including the Gabriel Brothers, our sister chain – for information, see www.gabrielbrothers.com).
The Rugged Wearhouse and Gabriel Brothers organization is a privately owned company headquartered in Morgantown, West Virginia. The deep-discount/extraordinary-customer-value proposition has allowed the stores to continue to grow and look for new expansion opportunities.
